The proposed course aims to provide students with a broad theoretical and practical background in Pharmacognosy - knowledge concerned with medicinal drugs obtained from plants or other natural sources.. The course discusses qualitative and quantitative analysis techniques and herbal formulations as per the standard regulatory guidelines. In this 2 years Full Time Residential Course, professional attention is given to train students in handling and testing natural pharmaceuticals / related products using analytical instruments (like HPLC, HPLC-MS/MS, HPTLC, FTIR, IR, GC, DSC etc) and acquaint students with the latest industrial trends as well as National or International standards organization. Research includes validation of traditional systems of medicine, validated methodologies for development of new herbal formulations , development of Drug molecules from natural sources and their enhancement by biotechnological approaches and exploring natural resources for novel drug delivery systems.
